River Basins Areas

Rivers encompass freshwater surface streams moving towards the sea, lake, or another river. River basins can cover vast areas of land and consists of the land area that is drained by a river and its tributaries. River basins often provide fertile lands, which make it favorable areas for farmers. The basins are often shared between different countries through which the related river flows. Cooperative management of shared river systems is therefore an important aspect for climate change adaptation measures in river basins.

About EbA

Healthy ecosystems deliver critical goods and services, such as providing food and fuel, or preventing floods and soil erosion. People depend on these goods and services for their wellbeing and livelihoods. However, because of climate change and other human impacts, many ecosystems have become degraded, with negative impacts on people’s lives. EBA involves the use of biodiversity and ecosystem services as part of an overall adaptation strategy to help people adapt to the adverse impacts of climate change.readmore
